Rabbi Rony Keller, RJE Senior Rabbi
Rabbi Keller is a South Florida native with a passion for Israel and Jewish education. He attended the University of South Florida where he earned double bachelor’s degrees in religion and psychology. He received two master’s degrees (Hebrew letters and Jewish education), as well as rabbinic ordination from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles.
In January 2009, Rabbi Keller was presented with the title Reform Jewish Educator (RJE) to signify the achievement of academic and professional standards of excellence as an educational leader.
He spent 13 years at Congregation Beth Israel in Scottsdale, AZ, where he served as the associate rabbi and the director of education. While in Scottsdale, he spent 3 years as the president of the Board of Rabbis of Greater Phoenix, where he established the only Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning that is operated by a Board of Rabbis, and he re-established the community’s Jewish Community Relations Council. He traded the Arizona cacti for the Florida palm trees and moved here in 2017.
Since arriving to Congregation B’nai Israel, he has integrated himself into all aspects of the congregation. He can often be spotted singing along with our early childhood students, in the classroom with our religious school youth, on the bimah and learning with all members of the synagogue. He is a trained facilitator for Prepare/Enrich, a member of the Boca Raton Interfaith Clergy Association (BRICA), and is on the national advisory board for JNF’s Rabbis for Israel.
His interests include spending time with family, kickboxing, movies, listening to Israeli music, cheering for the University of Miami Hurricanes, and debating who is cooler: Obi-Wan Kenobi or Iron-Man. Rabbi Keller is married to Lisa, a Jewish educator, and they are the proud parents of Aviv, Leor and their one-eyed rescue dog named Kylo.
