Reckonings presented by Nagle Family Jewish Film Festival
They met in secret to negotiate the unthinkable — compensation for the survivors of the largest mass genocide in history. Survivors were in urgent need of help, but how could reparations be determined for the unprecedented destruction and suffering of a people? Reckonings explores this untold true story set in the aftermath of the Holocaust.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Roberta Grossman, Reckonings recounts the tense negotiations between Jewish and German leaders. Under the constant threat of violence, they forged ahead, knowing it would never be enough but hoping it could at least be an acknowledgment and a step towards healing.
This movie night offers a unique opportunity to connect over a thought-provoking film.
Members: $18 Community Guests: $36
Dinner and refreshments included in admission fee, and a discussion will follow the movie. Bring a friend and enjoy an evening of film, conversation, and community! This event is open to our Boca Raton community.

41st Annual Feed the Community
Congregation B’nai Israel has partnered with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church for 41 years to provide a Thanksgiving feast for members of our community. Our neighbors will be invited to Ebenezer Church on Tuesday, November 26th to pick up everything needed for a bountiful holiday meal.
There are many ways for our CBI family to participate in this event including donating food or harvest baskets, sponsoring a table, donating a meal, baking cookies, hosting a neighborhood collection, or volunteering your time. Last year’s event helped feed over 300 individuals and families. Let’s do it again this year!

TAKE ACTION
Monthly Mitzvahs
As a Congregation with a Conscience®, social action initiatives are integral to our synagogue’s mission. Throughout the year, we host various events and collections for local charities. As a united effort, the Nadel Center for Early Childhood Education, The Barry Ira Graff School for Living Judaism, and Congregation B’nai Israel participate in volunteer opportunities and collections centered around a central guiding theme each month.
The Torah and Jewish tradition command us to care for the hungry. We are told to “Share [our] bread with the hungry and bring the homeless into [our] house.” This month, we focus on Ha’achalat Re’evim, Feeding the Hungry.
Collections
- Non-perishable items to make a Thanksgiving meal
- Freshly-Baked Cookies: We will be adding freshly-baked cookies to the meal kits we are distributing. If you would like to bake cookies, please place individually-bagged cookies on the table in CBI’s Admin Circle on November 25th & 26th.
Off Campus
- Volunteers Needed: We need assistance delivering food to Ebenezer, assembling meal kits and distributing food.
On Campus
- Harvest Box Distribution: Spend an hour or two passing out Harvest Boxes to those who ordered.
Show Soldiers and Families They Are Not Alone
Send some love right now with one of our Israel Support Packages. Each box is filled with delightful gifts, sweet surprises, and love, and are not just a morale booster for soldiers and evacuated families – they also serve to boost Israel’s wartime economy.
The products in each package are produced by small Israeli businesses from the Galilee and Negev who are part of Jewish National Fund-USA’s Small Business Association. Not only are you giving people a reason to smile – you’re also keeping businesses alive in Israel.
A portion of the proceeds for each box also goes to support our Israel Resilience Campaign.
