Commitment Through Ritual
Jewish life is enriched by the rituals attached to the milestones that punctuate our lives. The sanctity of Jewish ritual binds us to generations of Jews who have come before us and to the continuity of our people. We create significant memories by sharing these times with family and friends.
Many of our Religious School students choose to continue their education after their Bar or Bat Mitzvah and “confirm” their commitment to Jewish life. This is often recognized at the end of their 10th grade year, usually around Shavuot, with a confirmation ceremony. Most of our confirmation students travel to Israel together after the ceremony. This trip is one of the highlights of our students’ Jewish education here at CBI, strengthening their bonds with each other and connecting them to Israel in the most profound way.
Adult B'nai Mitzvah
Our Adult B’nai Mitzvah program provides a chance for adults who have never had a Bar/Bat Mitzvah to participate in group study that will culminate in being called to the Torah and leading Shabbat Services. Past participants have commented that the Adult B’nai Mitzvah experience has helped strengthen their Jewish identity and enhanced their connections to our Jewish community in ways they never imagined.
